Frequently Asked Questions
Is there anything I need to do before I come in for my tattoo?
Yes. Tattoo procedures are stressful on your body and you need to make sure that you are in good health, well rested and have had a well-balanced meal before arriving for your appointment. Please bathe or shower before your appointment, especially if you are coming after work. This is not only a courtesy to your tattoo artist but also will aid in reducing the amount of bacteria and contaminants on the surface of your skin.
How much will my tattoo cost?
Our shop minimum is $60. Above that, prices will vary depending on several factors, ie size, location, detail. Without actually seeing the artwork, it is difficult to give a cost quote over the phone. We ask interested clients to come in and speak with an artist about their proposed artwork. Generally after the artist and client have agreed the design parameters for the artwork, an estimate can be given. After finalized artwork is approved by the client, we can then provide a quote and an appointment is made.
Can I bring my children to watch?
Children under the age of 16, including babies, are not permitted in our studio. We love children but their presence can be a distraction in the studio environment for both artists and other clients. Please make suitable arrangements for the care of your children before visiting our studio.
What should I do to care for my new tattoo?
At Mr. Shorty's Tattoo Emporium, artists use a revolutionary bandaging system called Tatuderm, the ONLY sterilize bandaging system specifically created for tattoos. Tatuderm is a clear, adhesive bandage that is breathable, hypoallergenic, and waterproof. After your tattoo procedure is complete, the artist will clean your new tattoo, removing excess pigments and residue from the surface of your skin. Tatuderm will then be applied over your new tattoo, protecting it against bacteria, contaminants and water, while allowing the skin to breathe and retain the skin's own natural moisture. Twelve hours later, you may remove the bandage, wash the tattoo site gently, then begin moisturizing your tattoo with a mild hypoallergenic moisturizer. More comprehensive aftercare instructions are available in our aftercare brochure which will be given to you at the time of your procedure.
